• Please submit only your best work.
  • Please follow these guidelines.  Failure to do so could (probably will) result in your work being rejected (probably unread).
  • What we need:
    • POETRY:  Vacuum Genesis accepts speculative poetry only: science, science fiction, fantasy, and horror.  No poems that rely solely upon some odd format or typography to be understood (if then).  Length: No restrictions in this regard, but understand this ... magazine space is limited and precious.  Every column inch that your poem occupies is an inch some other poem (and poet) wants.  Accordingly, the longer a poem is, the better it is going to have to be to convince us to spend "page space" on it.  Please send no more than five poems per submission.  Poetry should be single-spaced with an extra line between stanzas or for other breaks.
    • ARTICLES and ESSAYS: Must be closely related to the field of speculative poetry.  Interviews with leading figures in the field are popular, as are articles on the craft of writing speculative poetry.  This is a difficult area to break in at because the magazine is devoted primarily to the poetry.  In order to place your article or essay here it is going to have to be very fresh and very well-written.  Length: 1500 words.  Shorter is better.  Longer only for truly remarkable ideas and writing.  Please send your work single-spaced with an extra space between paragraphs, no indents or tabs.  Bulleted items can be indicated with a > symbol.
    • LETTERS:  Vacuum Genesis welcomes and encourages letters from its readers and contributors.  Keep them short if they are intended for publication and be advised that all letters, or portions thereof, are considered for publication in our letters pages.
    • ARTWORK: Vacuum Genesis is a market for original science fiction artwork.  We use black and white or grayscale artwork only, and it must be submitted as a jpg file.  Try to keep your dpi around 300.  Every attempt will be made to maintain the original aspect ratio of your work, however, we reserve the right to resize each art piece where it is needed to conform to our format.  Send a small sample of your work -- 3 to 5 pieces.  These are the only attached files that we will open.  Email us first to inquire about our current needs.  Artwork sent by artists who have not sent a query email first will be deleted unopened.
  • At the present time Vacuum Genesis pays one contributor's copy of the issue in which your work appears.  As the magazine grows we will undoubtedly reach a point at which we can offer payment commensurate with the rest of the field.  We will consider reprints, and all rights revert back to the author upon publication.
  • Send your submissions to grealain@yahoo.com after first reading How To Submit
  • Please wait at least four weeks before you contact us about your submission.  If you haven't heard from us it may mean that your work is being considered for publication.
